Front ring — for pullers

Use this one while your dog is still learning the walk. Every time they surge ahead, they end up facing you instead of the horizon. Most people stay on this ring for the first few weeks.

Back ring — for everything else

Once they're walking on a loose leash, switch to the back. It gives them a straighter line to move in, which is what you want for hikes, jogs, and long stretches of sidewalk.

Will this stop my dog from pulling?

It makes pulling stop working, which is not the same as training it out of them. On the front ring, a dog that surges forward ends up turned sideways instead of gaining ground, so most owners see a real difference on the first walk. Keeping it that way still takes consistency from you. Think of it as a tool that makes the training easier, not a replacement for it.

Which ring should I use?

Front for a dog that pulls, back for a dog that doesn't. If you're not sure, start on the front. You can switch mid-walk without taking the harness off.

How do I know what size to order?

Go by your dog's weight using the chart above — it puts most dogs in the right size straight away. If your dog sits between two sizes, or is deep-chested like a Greyhound or Doberman, order the larger one and tighten it down.

Can my dog back out of it?

Not if it's fitted properly. The chest and belly straps both adjust, and the harness sits around the ribcage rather than the neck, which is the part dogs reverse out of. Set each strap so you can slide two fingers underneath and no further. Escape artists — Huskies especially — are worth re-checking after the first couple of walks, since straps settle.

Is it comfortable enough for long walks?

The load sits across the chest and shoulders rather than the throat, and the panels are padded mesh, so it's built for distance rather than a quick trip to the mailbox. Take it off between walks the way you would any harness.

Will it rub or mat the coat?

The edges are bound and the inner face is soft mesh, which is what causes most rubbing when it's missing. Long or double-coated dogs can still get some flattening where the straps sit — that brushes out.

How do I clean it?

Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, then air dry. Skip the machine and the dryer — heat is what ages the webbing and loosens the stitching.

Does it show up at night?

Reflective stitching runs along the straps and picks up headlights and streetlights from the side as well as head-on. It reflects light rather than producing it, so it works against a car's beams, not in pitch dark on its own.
